What gay hookup apps/sites do you use?

I always considered myself straight, but lately I've been curious about hooking up with other guys. What apps or websites do you all use? I'm not looking for anything serious.

A few years ago, I used both Grindr and Scruff. I really liked Scruff and met a lot of guys who were a good match for me. Grindr, though, had a bunch of awkward experiences, so I deleted it and stayed on Scruff.

Now, things have flipped. Scruff hasn’t been great lately, while Grindr has actually been more fun.

If you haven’t used these apps in a while, it’s worth trying them all again. Things change, and you never know which one will work best for you now.

Online dating feels like a joke. There’s one site I check from time to time just for fun because the ads are so over-the-top. I’ve noticed the same few people post every day, sometimes in different sections. They might change their wording or age, but it’s clearly the same users.

Sometimes, other users post warnings, saying those regulars just collect photos or never follow through. I think most gay dating sites are basically the same, so I don’t post anything or reply to ads.

Honestly, I miss the Craigslist personals - I always had better luck there.

For casual hookups in the LGBTQ+ community, I would highlight a few popular apps: Grindr, Scruff, Taimi, and Tinder.

1. Grindr is well-known for quick connections, especially among gay, bi, trans, and queer men.

2. Scruff offers a similar experience but includes more detailed profiles and search filters.

3. Taimi is a more inclusive app designed for the entire LGBTQ+ community.

4. Tinder is also an option - while not exclusively for LGBTQ+ users, many use it for casual dating as well.

I’m a guy who likes men, so I’ll stick with what I know. Manfinder.com has been available in some major cities. I met my boyfriend before it launched in Jefferson City, so I’ve never used it myself, but I’ve seen friends try it occasionally. Unfortunately, many male-male dating sites open and close quickly, but Manfinder seems to be doing well where it’s available.

Sniffies, Rewazea, GROWLR, Jackd, Taimi, Hinge, Adam4Adam, DoubleList, Scruff, Archer, BiggerCity, Hornet, ROMEO ...

I've tried them all. It's often the same people and the same experience.

If you want good results, you need a great profile - be positive, use clear photos, and say what you're after. You also have to be aware that the person on the other end might be a bot, could be phishing for photos, or high as a kite.

It's about keeping your expectations in check, saying what you mean, and not wasting time on people who aren't a genuine match.
